Well, the gray, automnal weather continues to the point of making the headlines on the front page of Le Parisien, the daily Parisian newspaper.CETTE METEO PESE SUR LE MORAL ET L'ECONOMIE........
Or: This weather is bearing down on the mood and the economy.
It continues on:
Alertes aux orages, temperatures frisquettes, nuage bas et pluie ...la meteo est automnal. Consequence: certains secteurs de l'economie souffrent et le moral est en berne pour ceux qui rentrent de vacances.
Storm advisories, nippy temperatures, overcast skies and rain ... the weather is downright autumnal. As a result, some sectors of the economy are suffering and the mood is at best half-hearted for those who are returning from vacation.
La pluie et le froid gachent la fin de saison.
In sum: The rain and the cold are spoiling the end of the summer

Editorial: France is now a country divided. A line of demarcation near the Loire Valley, about 80 miles south of Paris divides the country into the haves and the have nots. Either you've got it or you don't. Sunny weather, that is...
Soooo...according to le Parisien, a grim mood prevails in Paris right now. There's been an unhostile takeover by sneaker sporting, map yielding, shopping bag toting, smiling faces & cameras, who are seemingly oblivious to the fact that the city is shut down as tight as a bordello on Sunday. There are expats like myself who are still smiling and happy to be here, no matter what the weather.
I can only conclude that for those few Parisiens who remain here, the unalienable right to sit at a café terrace, basking in the last remaining sun rays of the season, sipping on a café crème or vin rouge, puffing away on a fag while viewing the streetside arena passing in front of them .... has mercilessly been taken away. Not even a perfectly planned manif or grève could right this situation.
Hopefully we'll see lots of smiles and a reverberating economy when the sun returns on Thursday ... :)

dear Mlle Paradis:) ohhh, it's really not all that bad, I was playing along with the dramatic accounting in the newspaper ... perhaps I should reword a few things ! Ahh, and what's that I see this morning ... ? The Sun! :)
